The existing boilers date back to the 1970s, installed when the leisure centre was first built. AFM had to carefully co-ordinate the removal of the first boiler (weighing around 3 tonnes) through a congested plantroom. Floor tracks and protective walls were installed to safely remove the old boiler and install the new one without damaging any of the business critical plant, including 400mm diameter plastic pipe runs carrying the swimming pool water.
The new boiler is operating well and the States of Guernsey are very happy with the new installation. The Director of Sports and Culture provided the following feedback:

“…Please pass on our appreciation to everyone involved in this operation for the careful thought and planning that went into it as well as the professionalism and commitment shown by those on site in undertaking what was clearly a very complex task”
AFM are looking forward to replacing the remaining two boilers in future phases.
